1) Never being able to decide what's for dinner with my wife.
Why: Dinner should be a time for reflection on the day and a way to unwind, not gripe about what we are making.
2) When driving to work other drivers staying in the passing lane on the interstate while driving under the speed limit.
Why: People who are issued should know the rules of the road and slower traffic always stays right.
3) I do not like to be late to anything. This includes work, meeting with friends, or any other commitment I may have.
Why: People wouldn't set specific times for things if you were meant to show up whenever you felt like it.
4) Working late throughout the week and still working weekends.
Why: My free time is important to me. I enjoy being with family and friends.
5) People texting while driving.
Why: It is dangerous.
6) Inexperienced boaters at the boat ramp who do not have courtesy for other boaters trying to get in and out of the water.
Why: Lack of respect for others trying to enjoy their boating experience.
7) The poor service I received at the pizza place I went to dinner tonight.
Why: It was from a new restaurant that is locally owned. I like seeing small businesses succeed and prefer doing business with them over the chain type restaurants.
8) People holding minimalist jobs, yet demanding $15 per hour.
Why: These type jobs were not intended to support a family. These jobs are meant to help younger individuals gain work experience.
9) Shin splints from running.
Why: It is tough for me to get into an excise routine. Getting shin splints makes it difficult to push forward exercising.
10) Missing an opportunity to do something with friends due to work interferences.
Why: You have to have balance in your work and personal life. I tend to be out of balance and work too much causing me to miss out on fun opportunities.
11) Packing for my up coming fishing trip.
Why: I will stress the entire time trying to pack everything needed.
12) Scheduling for ten people for my upcoming fishing trip and making sure everyone has lodging, food, and a spot to fish.
Why: I stress enough getting by boat, fishing gear, and personal items together that trying to account for nine others is difficult.
13) People who complain about not having things or money, yet do not want to work overtime to earn extra.
Why: I have always gone above and beyond what is expected of me in whatever position I have held. So it is difficult for me to be around underachievers.
14) Having to tell adults what to do daily at work because they have no personal responsibility.
Why: I have been responsible professionally since a young age and am a self starter. So telling people older than me seems like nonsense.
15) Running out of bug spray when night fishing last weekend.
Why: The bugs get bad at night and ruins the fishing experience.
16) When I allow myself to be lazy regarding school work.
Why: The work has to get done one way or another. I know it would be easier if I did a little at a time rather than all at once at the last minute.
17) That Finance is only offered during football season.
Why: I love football season and finance is a difficult course. So time management becomes an issue for me.
18) My busiest time of year at work is the best time to be out on the water.
Why: I have to let my work responsibilities trump my personal wants.
19) Wasting a Saturday or Sunday doing nothing fun.
Why: I have limited days of free time, so a wasted day drives me crazy.
20) The wings I got Monday that were not done enough.
Why: There's nothing worse for me than soggy wings. I rarely eat wings, so when I do I want to enjoy them.
It is difficult to come up with 20 things that bug me. I like to think positively so that made it difficult. Also it makes you really think about things or situations that do bug you. Some of them I wouldn't have given a second thought until putting it in writing.

Nice bug list! I could elaborate on all of these even if they are not bugs that I have experienced. These are all things I can see being frustrating and most of which could be avoided with simple innovations. Unfortunately some of them we may have to deal with, like people driving slow in the fast lane. I noticed that every post I have read and my own post have mentioned traffic. Creating a solution to traffic would be a huge industry and would obviously be supported by the masses. However, this would not be easy as smarter vehicles and light systems would probably be necessary because I don't think people who go 60 in the fast lane will ever learn.
ReplyDeleteAlthough we seem like very different people from what I have read in your bug list, I think we also have a lot in common. I think we will be able to provide each other with unique perspectives throughout the semester and look forward to reading more from you.
Jason,
ReplyDeleteAll of your bugs were so great! The one about slow drivers that stay in the left lane and being late and two huge ones for me that I wasn't able to think of when I made my list. I also found it difficult for the same reason that you did, I try to think positive most of the time. You did a great job overall!
It is great bug list! I totally agree with your opinion. There are something that I already felt difficult in my life. Most thing that I agree with is #4 which is Working late throughout the week and still working weekends. I also spent my time working late and also still working on weekends to finish what I have to do. The reason why I do this is try to spend rest time with my families and friends. Therefore, I also think the way I can solve these problem are get rids of something that not important.
ReplyDeleteHi Jason,
ReplyDeleteThis "Bug List" was fantastic! I'm sure many people can apply these same ones to their lives. My favorite "bugs" were numbers 1, 3, and 14. Related to number 1, my boyfriend and I can never decide where we want to eat so it's always a struggle. I also found this list difficult to create when doing this assignment last semester. I think that we're trained from the start of our lives to just adapt when something doesn't work the way we want it to. This class will allow us to challenge those thoughts and gain meaningful experiences!
Great work!
